Honey I Love You

Behind a picture perfect day is usually a bit of foul weather in the form of drizzly rain.  Fortunately, our temperatures are quite high for late October and the rain is light.  Mr. O’Hara spent a great part of the day with us today and was able to connect with all 5 crews.  Mr. Ahmed’s crew, with instructors Marko, Erin and Kevin were eating a tuna fish lunch in the lean to at Crazy Horse.  After lunch was over the crew played a game of Honey I Love You where students must make one another smile by being silly and saying, “Honey I love you, won’t you smile for me?”  One must try their best to have a poker face and respond, “I love you, but I just can’t smile for you.”  The point is that smiling in the face of adversity will help get you through the hard times.

Also backpacking today are Mrs. Kaba’s, Ms. Schenck’s and Ms. Madris’ crews.  Ms. Kaba’s crew was playing a really fun game called, Lions, Tigers and Bears.  Mr. O’Hara tried his best to hide, but was caught in the second round of the game.  Lions, Tigers and Bears is a very advanced Hide and Seek that even adults love playing.

Mr. Gonzalez also joined us today and he has been out and about with the crews backpacking.  I really want to compliment him on all his hard work in recruitment of students for this amazing experience.  Thank you Mr. Gonzalez!

The lone crew at the high challenge course today was Ms. Duzleman’s crew.  Ms. Duzleman was the last person to climb and was belayed by a team of her students.  Eddie, the mentor finally climbed up past the ladder and was quite proud of himself.

All spirits are high and everyone is in their sites for the evening.  Cooks are making dinner and crews will continue their good work into this evening.
